San Juan Singers
Dec.16-17th

We heard the first orchestra rehearsal last evening of San Juan Singers concert, and you simply MUST hear their concert this weekend with members of the Victoria Chamber Orchestra. Tickets are still available for both performances, Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 5:00 pm. Call the Box Office NOW at 378-3210 or request tickets on line at www.sanjuancommunitytheatre.org and click Online Box Office. Adults are $16; Student Reserved $8; Student RUSH $5 (at the door only).

The main work on the program is Vivaldi's sprightly oratorio "Gloria," but the Gloria theme extends to much more. The two-hour program includes works by Arcangelo Corelli (Christmas Concerto), G.F. Handel (And the Glory of the Lord), Daniel Pinkham (Christmas Cantata with brass quartet), John Rutter and David Willcocks, as well as glorious carols you can sing along
Angels We Have Heard on High
While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks
Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.

The Victoria Chamber Orchestra is conducted by Yariv Aloni, who led the Singers 2004 performances of Handel's "Messiah." He is a vibrant young conductor who is very engaging. Soloists for the Vivaldi will be RuthE Wells and Corinne Stevens (a budding Wagnerian soprano who is expanding her repertoire here while she builds the resources to continue her studies in Vienna). They are beautifully matched in their duet and each is featured in arias that highlight their musical artistry. The chorus is 50 voices strong, and sings with power and grace.

So shrug off your stormy night/week! This joyous music will perfectly pick up your spirits for the holidays. Get your tickets NOW!
